Branded “Revelation,” abandoned ashore,
stood a scope of heavenly gold.
Peering inside, a prayer I whispered
to see beyond my shore.
But what did I see —
Oh my God, what did I see?
Beyond the shore was a great abyss —
Cries that did shake the stand,
Blood that did alter gold,
Tears that did disillusion.
“Never again,” I wished to see.
Peering again, a prayer I whispered
to see self and no more.
But what did I see –
Oh my God, what did I see?
Beyond the flesh was a great abyss –
In horror, I saw on my shore
an image so hideous – distorted;
a bloody, knotted soul.
“Never again,” I wished to see.
Peering again, a prayer I whispered
to see.
But what did I see —
Good God, what did I see?
Taking on flesh, He stepped into the abyss –
A Hand that wiped the tears
and ran with blood of gold.
An Image so bent with mercy,
it undid my twisted soul.
But what did I see?
My God I did see.
